Door of Mercy closes ...

Today we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King ... this year the day marks the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy and today Pope Frances closes the door in St Peter's. This Jubilee Year was the first one in history to be launched by two pontiffs (popes), both Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. We are posting two video links, the first showing the Pope closing the door, and the second which gives a short explanation about the year of mercy and why it has been so important.

Lancaster's Door of Mercy
As announced in the newsletter a few weeks ago, although the door at St Peter's at Lancaster will formally cease to be the Door of Mercy, it will remain open as an alternative exit should we need to vacate the building in an emergency ... thus a door we hope not to use in the near future!
